Meyer Sound
Meyer Sound CAL
Meyer Sound Laboratories, the leader in professional audio equipment, re-engaged with Anvil Studios to design the housings for their family of Column Array Loudspeakers. CAL, as the loudspeakers are referred, are intended for use in large public venues such as airports, stadiums, churches, and amusement parks. The design objective was for these loudspeakers is to be visually quiet; almost invisible. Depending on the application, these loudspeakers can be between 45” and 110” tall and can generate large amounts of heat, thus requiring large amounts of heat sinks.
Anvil Studios conceptualized a modular family design consisting of an extruded aluminum housing. The same extrusion can be cut to any desired length, then capped for weather proofing and mounting. Our cross-sectional profile includes a generously rounded parabolic back that hides the integrated heat sinks, and a front speaker grill that includes subtle chamfers running the full height. These complex surfaces and details all work together to reduce the visual mass by allowing the viewers eye to only catch slim, minimal highlights.
