Rarecyte, Inc. manufactures life science equipment which separates and selects single cells from billions for analysis. Rarecyte partnered with Anvil Studios for concept ideation support for exploring the industrial design opportunities for their CyteFinder and CytePicker products.
The design solution pairs clean, geometric forms with minimal detailing to create a quiet gesture with prominent focus placed on the sample intake port. The top surface is gently arched to prevent objects from being placed or stored above the sample intake area. The base cutouts create feet to physically elevate the system and incorporate both air intake and venting hidden within. Visual simplicity balances with a bold design cue to create an elegant solution designed to either stand alone or sit side-by-side in repetition of multiple units.
