Mousera Investor Gift
Mousera is accelerating medical advancements by bringing 21st Century technology into living systems research. While in stealth mode, Mousera partnered with Anvil Studios, Inc. to design and fabricate a thank you gift for top tier investors. That’s it; a blank sheet. Make something cool that an investor would appreciate (within the budget of course).
It is pretty rare that we are given so much freedom in a client’s design brief. Our whole design team went to work filling that blank sheet with as many ideas as possible. The client requested to incorporate themes from both biology and cutting-edge high-tech. Due to the subject matter, we settled on the “mouse” theme early on, so we balanced that by selecting a “cutting edge” fabrication process, 3D-printing.
Our solution are abstract, sculptural mouse forms with a unique Voronoi pattern applied to each individual fabrication (you rock Sloan). To heighten the overall quality, the 3D-prints are coated with a protective material known as SLArmor. The result is an attractive, matte silver metallic plating that not only resembles the surface quality of an Apple computer, but is also surprisingly rugged enough to throw across the room (though we have never actually tested this).
To complete the gifting experience we designed a walnut box that doubles as a display pedestal when inverted. During presentation, this beautiful box is wrapped in a card stock ribbon, laser-cut with the same nature-inspired Voronoi pattern as the sculptures. The primary investor was quoted as saying this gift is “Very well done. The best thing I’ve ever gotten from a company I’ve been involved with.”
