Power A :: iPhone Rockband Gamepad
Anvil Studios, in collaboration with PowerA, designed the iPhone RockBand Gamepad to deliver an immersive and ergonomic mobile gaming experience tailored specifically for RockBand players on iPhone and iPod Touch. Developed in partnership with EA and Apple, the accessory was engineered for portrait orientation and optimized for right-handed users, meaning it would be held in the left hand, mirroring real guitar play. The gamepad maintained full access to the device’s top and side buttons, fit securely into the 30-pin connector, and accommodated both iPhone and iPod Touch form factors. With a design constraint not to exceed the thickness of Steve Jobs’ INCASE battery pack, the final product achieved a sleek, ultra-slim profile that blended the minimalist aesthetic of Apple devices with the ergonomic needs of mobile gameplay—striking a careful balance between refined tech and intuitive function.
